Senior Commercial Manager - SCM036
Are you a Commercial Manager with extensive commercial experience or a background in facilities management, services, PFI/PPP, or similar contracts? How about an exciting role acting as a commercial focal point across the business and in support of our Army customers? You’ll get to work independently, providing contractual interpretation and guidance to key stakeholders. Join a great team at Aspire Defence Services…
Your primary responsibility is to support senior management and the head of department with commercial and contractual advice and support to the business to minimise ADS/ADSL’s risk and maximise the commercial position.
Therefore, you should be able to develop, implement and maintain internal commercial processes and procedures to support this, and have a thorough understanding of the PFI Contract and offer commercial advice on interpretation.
Working with the Head of Commercial and other key stakeholders, you will develop, implement, and maintain ADSL’s commercial policies, processes, and procedures. Where appropriate, you will prepare and/or review contractual submissions such as responses to Contract variations, Compensation Events, and other contractual notices. You must also be able to read construction drawings and specifications, and prepare project scopes, programmes, and reports.
In addition, you will take the lead in pricing Authority change requests, including reviewing scope and pricing documentation, identifying risk and opportunity, and preparing submissions prior to internal governance. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with non-operational aspects of the contract, including the issuing of notices to the Authority and Project Co in a timely manner.
Where required, you will lead and participate in negotiations and interactions with the customer and suppliers, identifying potential liabilities, risks, opportunities, issues, and disputes arising with customers, suppliers, partners and third parties, and produce innovative mitigation plans.
Amongst several other key skills and experience required for this role, you should have sound working knowledge of various forms of contracts, including NEC and JCT, and the application of contract law. You must be able to identify and manage non-operational contract obligations, with experience developing and delivering commercial policies and processes. It would also be desirable to know how to implement contract governance procedures.
